ACTIVE Jack!!

I have not been very good about keeping any updates on Jack's progress. Rightfully so, I work daily and only get to update this during my 5 minutes of downtime at work...and I just haven't been great about that.

I have started the 30 Day Shred. Today will be my 4th day...long way to go. But I'm trying to keep my progress updated every couple days on the blog, to keep myself accountable!

Back to Jack!

Jack had his first cold/congestion. He had it for a total of two weeks. This week he has been so much better. It hurts my heart to see him not being able to breathe and coughing all the time. But it doesn't seem to effect him too much.

He is growing so fast and he is very tall. I think he is around 26" right now and 14 - 14 1/2 pounds.

Funny Story:

On Monday, Evan was a Walmart with Jack. A lady asked him how old he was. Evan promptly said he was 3 1/2 months old. She was shocked, she said, that's how big my 9 month old is. lol. He isn't fat, but he is tall. Hopefully he'll stay that way!!

Jack's eyes are still very blue! and He still has just blonde fuzz on his head. I love my little bald boy!

He is moving around like crazy. About a month ago he learned to push up on his legs. So anytime you are sitting with him, he wants to be standing on your lap. Which, if you have no arm strength like me, it's very exhausting. And when he is playing on his playmat, he kicks his legs to much he moves all over the mat.

Shown in the photo above, Jack LOVES to take baths!

Jack's 4 month dr's appointment is in a couple of weeks. So hopefully I can update more then!!

3 of 30

Yesterday was my 3rd day of doing the 30 day Shred. I had to convince Evan that since we don't belong to a gym anymore, that I needed my 25 minutes in the evening to do this DVD. It kicks my but, and I'm so sore. But it's worth it. Since I did not really do any excersize during my pregnancy or a little before, I'm so out of shape...but it's going good.

Haven't lost any weight yet, but I'm trying to eat better and do this work out daily! I really just want to get these last 19 pounds off by the end of September. So that's giving me 2 months to do it! More than anything, I need to tone up my stomach and loose some inches from my hips and thighs. That has always been the place that I gain my weight...it's those German genes.

Again, I'm hoping that being consistant in writing in the blog will help me be accoutnable with this workout!

Day 1 of 30

Yesterday I started the Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred. It is a workout DVD. It hurts. I did the DVD about 2 years ago for about a week, then stopped. I'm hoping that if I start writing on this blog daily that it will keep my accountable to the public.

Doing this becuase I still have baby weight to loose and tone up.

Weight Gained: 43 lbs

Weight Lost as of 7/25: 27 lbs

Weight Loss To Goal: 19 lbs

Crossing my fingers that I can get those numbers to where I want them in a suitable time frame. Today Evan started his new thing of getting up at 6:30am to run/walk. Hopefully he will stick with it. I'll keep that update as well.

8 Weeks

Yesterday Jack was 8 Weeks old. So hard to believe. And it's crazy just how much he has grown. It is true that in the first year they are transforming every day. On my 2 month post, I'll give his new height and weight stats!
So far Jack has been at Ms. Sally's day care for 2 weeks and he loves it! Well, at least I think he does! Sally said that he has gotten really good at tummy time and not crying if she doesn't hold him! Jack is the only baby (besides a 6 month old) so he gets a lot of attention. Sally's little 3 year old, loves Jack....he runs to the door when I come in and tells me the things Jack did that day. Which usually consists of "playing".
Jack's Progress: We have a happy baby! Especially in the mornings. Jack is smiling like crazy now. And he will 'coo' every now and then...we are just waiting for that laugh to come. Soon, I hope! I started uploading videos of Jack to YouTube because my mom likes to see the progress. Here is my link http://www.youtube.com/user/lenzi0331.
My Progress: I am still down just 21 pounds. This week I have set a goal to loose the remainder of my baby weight (and maybe more) for the 1st of September. Hopefully I am get disciplined and get my butt in gear!
I'll get Jack's 2 Month progress stats on the 11th!

Back at Work

Today is my first day back at work. Dropping off Jack at the sitter's was hard, but good. As I was getting caught up at work Sally (my sitter) sent me a text updating me on how he was doing! It was nice to get that. Made me feel good. I'm doing better than I thought I would do. Just really excited to see him when I get off work!

Progress this past week: Jack is really starting to smile! Now we know that it's an actual smile and not gas. lol. Last weekend we went to San Marcos. Jack did SO good! After being fussy in La Grange, we were so worried. But he was great! And he got to meet so many people.

As far as me, I am still down just 20 lbs. I have not started to exercise yet becuase I have been sore up top from breastfeeding. Hopefully that will stop soon since he is not eating breastmilk anymore. I know I'm not getting in a two piece this summer. However, we have a cruise booked in November, so that is my goal!

4 weeks today!

Today Jack is 4 weeks old. He is starting to really figure out the world! He is getting better at focusing on things with his eyes! When I last updated, he was seeing objects but he would go cross-eyed if he stared for too long. He loves to stare.

Also, he is so enthrawled with all things musical! We have a couple different baby Einstein products that play fun classic music and Jack just loves it. If he is having a crying spat, I just sit in next to this turtle that plays music and he calms down! I heart baby einstein!

Jack's hand/arm functions are coming into play! This week was he first week that he really started to grab and hold on. Needless to say, we've already had a few times when my hair was the object. (I guess I have to go used to it).

He is almost in size 1 diapers! Our growing boy! We have started to transition him to formula also. Mainly because feeding him breastmilk was getting to be too much of a hassle.

The sad thing is that I have to go back to work in two weeks. It is not a good moment for me. I have only left him one time since he has been born (and that was only for about 4 hours). I have big control issues, so it just makes me crazying thinking that someone else will be takin care of Jack all day;(.

Overall, Jack is growing good, his physical skills are progressing, and ,oh, he started to smile a little this week!

As for me, I gained about 40 pounds when I was pregnant, and I am down 20. However, I've been down 20 for about 3 weeks now...and haven't lost anymore. This week I'm going to try to start walking a little each day. Hope that will help. I would love to loose 30 more pounds (since I was about 10 away from my goal weight when I got preggers). Fingers crossed!

2 Weeks & 2 days old

It has been so surreal these last 2 weeks. It seemed like the last month that I was pregnant took so long, and now life is flying by. We cannot descibe how amazing Jack is! He has been the best baby so far! Jack is already holding his head up on his own (for the most part), he has started to recognize what his hands are and that he can control them, he is very alert when he is awake and gives you great eye contact!

Evan and I still look at him and say "where did you come from?!", this is crazy. But we could not be more in love!

Jack is growing too! He is up to 8 pounds! Which means he has gained 1 pound since birth. And he is still so cute!

We has his infant photos taken last week, he did not behave. However, we got some great shots! Here are some of our favs!

I'm Finally HERE!!

We finally have our little boy!

Name: Jack Robert Lawson

Birthday: April 11th, 2011

Time: 2:49pm

Weight: 7 pounds .07 ounces

Length: 20 inches

Hair & Eyes: Blonde Hair and Blue Eyes

He is perfect! There isn't more to say than that!

We checked into Harris downtown at 6pm on Sunday 4/10 to start the induction process. Evan and my mom stayed with me in the hospital. The room was so nice, however the overnight accomodations for them were a little hard. I was started on pitocin at 6am on Monday 4/11. My water broke at 9:45 pm and they took me off the pitocin. I got my epidural at 11:30am (FYI the most amazing thing ever). I started pushing at about 1:15 pm and Jack was born at 2:49pm!!

Evan's parents (Richard & Ann) along with my parents (Ted & Sherry) and Jack's Godfather (Chad) were there to greet him (when we got all cleaned up of course).

Jack passed all of his tests and we got to come home yesterday, 4/12 at 5:30pm! It was so great to come home and sleep in our own bed.

Just a waiting game...

Giving an update: I will be 39 weeks on Saturday. Had a doctor's appointment yesterday, still no change. I guess Jack really likes it in my tummy and doesn't want to progress. I'm hoping that's it, and not him being stubborn...is that a sign for what is to come? The doctor said I'm still doing good as far as progressing, but he has run out of room...so that is why my back has been hurting more than normal. Anyway, we discussed the possibility that if I do not deliver by April 9th, when I could be induced. She gave me the choices of April 11th or April 19th. (I don't want to have a 12 pound baby) so we are going with April 11th! SOOOO we are now on an official countdown. If nothing else, we know we will have a baby on April 11th, 2011! (However please cross your fingers/pray that it happens before!) Shay

37 weeks 5 days

Hello All,

Had my weekly doctor's appointment today! Still stuck at 1 cm dialated. Maybe this week I will try to be a little more active to help things along. It has gotten a lot harder to move around and sleep this past week. I am finally understanding why pregnant women are miserable their last month of pregnancy. Just try to function with a large watermelon underyour shirt and see how you feel! It is very similar to wearing one of those sumo wresting fat suits...you can't really move and when you fall down you can't get back up on your own. Yep, that's it! :)

Here are two photos from today. Still growing...however, I think these photos make me look larger than I am. Most people still don't understand that I am so far along.
Waiting on Jack!

Still on Track

Well, yesterday I had a doctor's appointment (down to the weeklys now)! I told my doctor that my back was really hurting and she said "oh good". (Thanks Dr. Carnevale). Apparently having body pains all over is a good thing...getting ready for delivery. I am starting to dialate. Which scares me but at the same time, again, it's normal. I guess all of the walking I do with working at the Stockyards is catching up to me. Next week, no walking. Jack needs to cook at least two more weeks!

Overall, she said that I am still on track! We'll see! Evan and I are ready!

Jack's new friend!

If you didn't already know, some of our best friends, Heather & Brandon Hall were due to have their little girl the week after me (April 16th). It has been so fun to go through our pregnancies together; comparing growth, feelings, and every thing else!

We received a call last night around 5:30 that Heather's water had broken. Eeek! Evan was excited. But my mind immediatly thought, 'She's too early', 'Something has to be wrong', blah, blah, blah. By keeping in touch with Brandon's brother, we found out at 8:00pm last night that Heather had little Miss Prestyn Reese Hall! 5lbs 8oz, 15inches long! Mom and daughter are doing well! Heather always said that she thought she was farther along than the doctors were telling her. So maybe she really was!

Evan and I immediatly thought of how Jack could come any time now! I did have a Dr's appointment yesterday and she said that he is still on target for my April delivery. So, I guess he still is cooking in there!

We are going to go see Miss Prestyn tonight. So excited to see the Hall family! And can't wait for Jack to get here so he can have his first little friend! (We already told him that he cannot have Prestyn as his girlfriend!) lol.

Mom, Grandma, and Aunt Kay came up to Fort Worth for the shower! It is great to have them here and regail me with stories on their pregnancies & babies!

Also, the Nursery is pretty much complete (minus getting all of the shower stuff put away from today). Here is a photo of Jack's room and his crib!

Almost 35 weeks

This has been a great week so far! Jack has been moving up a storm and his room is getting put together, little by little every day! Evan & I put together his Stroller/Carrier successfully (can't believe that). However, as Evan put it, 'for item made for saftey, it should be pretty easy to put together'. But of course it was me reading the instructions and telling Evan what to do. In our house when putting ANYTHING together, I do not let Evan look at the instructions, especially if it has pictures. It's kind of a rule. He gets frustrated if it doesn't work right away and he quits. So, when we bought Jack's dresser (that we had to put together 100%), Evan couldn't even be around it (way too many parts)...I put the entire thing together myself..and yes, I was very pregnant.

Today Jack's bedding is supposed to be waiting for me when I get home! YAY! So excited! So then we have a crib with bedding, dresser, stroller/carrier, and a bumbo seat. What more could be want. Well, the baby of course!

I'll post a photo tomorrow of the bedding! Whoo Hoo!

Until then....

Naming baby Jack!

I keep seeing people with baby blogs and I so I decided to follow in suite!

Today I am at 33 weeks and 5 days pregnant with our baby Boy! Evan and I are so excited!

We just started to tell me people what the baby's name is...and the next question that comes is: Where did that come from? So, I guess my first blog post would have to tackle that question!

Name: Jack Robert Lawson.

Yes, we know it sounds like a lawyer, doctor, or politician.

When we first found out that I was pregnant it took us no time at all to pick out boy and a girl names. So it was easy, when we found of it was a boy! (Maybe someday we will use our girl name, because we still love it).

We both picked the name Jack right away. I was really set on having a name that had some sort of family ties.

Jack came from the following:

My Side: My Dad's brother Jack. He passed away in 2009...he was incredibly sweet and was a very good pitcher for A & M, almost going pro. We miss him. Today would have been his 50th Birthday!

Evan's Side: He also has an uncle named Jack who every one calls 'Buddy'. Also Evan's best friend, Chad, has an Uncle Jack, whom Evan has looked up to for many many years. 'Uncle' Jack lives in Ablilene, where Evan went to ACU. This Jack made a big impact on Evan's life, so it just made sense as well.

Therefore, Jack was easy for his first name!

Robert, was a little harder to come by. I wanted to explore different middle names, but Evan was set on this one from the beignning...so I agreed! Robert is Evan's middle name and also was his grandfather's name. Robert Lawson, whom I only met briefly was said to be one of the greatest men in the Lawson family!

So, there you go, Jack Robert Lawson! He has a lot to live up to for his name, but we are certian he will!

Here is a photo from today...this was actually the first week that people have asked me 'when are you due'...when they didn't know I was pregnant. YAY for not looking fat anymore (well, sort of).
