Back at Work

Today is my first day back at work. Dropping off Jack at the sitter's was hard, but good. As I was getting caught up at work Sally (my sitter) sent me a text updating me on how he was doing! It was nice to get that. Made me feel good. I'm doing better than I thought I would do. Just really excited to see him when I get off work!

Progress this past week: Jack is really starting to smile! Now we know that it's an actual smile and not gas. lol. Last weekend we went to San Marcos. Jack did SO good! After being fussy in La Grange, we were so worried. But he was great! And he got to meet so many people.

As far as me, I am still down just 20 lbs. I have not started to exercise yet becuase I have been sore up top from breastfeeding. Hopefully that will stop soon since he is not eating breastmilk anymore. I know I'm not getting in a two piece this summer. However, we have a cruise booked in November, so that is my goal!

4 weeks today!

Today Jack is 4 weeks old. He is starting to really figure out the world! He is getting better at focusing on things with his eyes! When I last updated, he was seeing objects but he would go cross-eyed if he stared for too long. He loves to stare.

Also, he is so enthrawled with all things musical! We have a couple different baby Einstein products that play fun classic music and Jack just loves it. If he is having a crying spat, I just sit in next to this turtle that plays music and he calms down! I heart baby einstein!

Jack's hand/arm functions are coming into play! This week was he first week that he really started to grab and hold on. Needless to say, we've already had a few times when my hair was the object. (I guess I have to go used to it).

He is almost in size 1 diapers! Our growing boy! We have started to transition him to formula also. Mainly because feeding him breastmilk was getting to be too much of a hassle.

The sad thing is that I have to go back to work in two weeks. It is not a good moment for me. I have only left him one time since he has been born (and that was only for about 4 hours). I have big control issues, so it just makes me crazying thinking that someone else will be takin care of Jack all day;(.

Overall, Jack is growing good, his physical skills are progressing, and ,oh, he started to smile a little this week!

As for me, I gained about 40 pounds when I was pregnant, and I am down 20. However, I've been down 20 for about 3 weeks now...and haven't lost anymore. This week I'm going to try to start walking a little each day. Hope that will help. I would love to loose 30 more pounds (since I was about 10 away from my goal weight when I got preggers). Fingers crossed!

2 Weeks & 2 days old

It has been so surreal these last 2 weeks. It seemed like the last month that I was pregnant took so long, and now life is flying by. We cannot descibe how amazing Jack is! He has been the best baby so far! Jack is already holding his head up on his own (for the most part), he has started to recognize what his hands are and that he can control them, he is very alert when he is awake and gives you great eye contact!

Evan and I still look at him and say "where did you come from?!", this is crazy. But we could not be more in love!

Jack is growing too! He is up to 8 pounds! Which means he has gained 1 pound since birth. And he is still so cute!

We has his infant photos taken last week, he did not behave. However, we got some great shots! Here are some of our favs!

I'm Finally HERE!!

We finally have our little boy!

Name: Jack Robert Lawson

Birthday: April 11th, 2011

Time: 2:49pm

Weight: 7 pounds .07 ounces

Length: 20 inches

Hair & Eyes: Blonde Hair and Blue Eyes

He is perfect! There isn't more to say than that!

We checked into Harris downtown at 6pm on Sunday 4/10 to start the induction process. Evan and my mom stayed with me in the hospital. The room was so nice, however the overnight accomodations for them were a little hard. I was started on pitocin at 6am on Monday 4/11. My water broke at 9:45 pm and they took me off the pitocin. I got my epidural at 11:30am (FYI the most amazing thing ever). I started pushing at about 1:15 pm and Jack was born at 2:49pm!!

Evan's parents (Richard & Ann) along with my parents (Ted & Sherry) and Jack's Godfather (Chad) were there to greet him (when we got all cleaned up of course).

Jack passed all of his tests and we got to come home yesterday, 4/12 at 5:30pm! It was so great to come home and sleep in our own bed.

Just a waiting game...

Giving an update: I will be 39 weeks on Saturday. Had a doctor's appointment yesterday, still no change. I guess Jack really likes it in my tummy and doesn't want to progress. I'm hoping that's it, and not him being stubborn...is that a sign for what is to come? The doctor said I'm still doing good as far as progressing, but he has run out of room...so that is why my back has been hurting more than normal. Anyway, we discussed the possibility that if I do not deliver by April 9th, when I could be induced. She gave me the choices of April 11th or April 19th. (I don't want to have a 12 pound baby) so we are going with April 11th! SOOOO we are now on an official countdown. If nothing else, we know we will have a baby on April 11th, 2011! (However please cross your fingers/pray that it happens before!) Shay

37 weeks 5 days

Hello All,

Had my weekly doctor's appointment today! Still stuck at 1 cm dialated. Maybe this week I will try to be a little more active to help things along. It has gotten a lot harder to move around and sleep this past week. I am finally understanding why pregnant women are miserable their last month of pregnancy. Just try to function with a large watermelon underyour shirt and see how you feel! It is very similar to wearing one of those sumo wresting fat suits...you can't really move and when you fall down you can't get back up on your own. Yep, that's it! :)

Here are two photos from today. Still growing...however, I think these photos make me look larger than I am. Most people still don't understand that I am so far along.
Waiting on Jack!
